Each and every one of us has potential irrespective of whether you agree with me or not. Just by reason of being a creation of a great CREATOR we have inherent CREATIVE POTENTIAL.
You may ask then what is potential. Simply put, potential is the innate inner ability that is not operational just yet.
Activating this begins with correctly acknowledging that we have it, that we have what it takes to release this to benefit our lives and that of other people.
Oftentimes it takes others to see these potentials and highlight these to us. Being sensitive to a greater understanding of ourselves and having key persons (like mentors) who believe in us can be crucial to unlocking or identifying this potential.
In some cases, we stumble at it and gain insight of what might be and just run with it. The key to unlocking our potentials in the first place lies in making conscious effort to know and understand ourselves better.
This could be a daunting process because we all fear of what we may discover about ourselves and this fear may hinder us from ever making that attempt.
We all have this one opportunity to have a go at life, so why not make the most of it?
Spiritually, I talk now as a Christian, the Bible describes the nature of the potential we carry inside of us – ‘that same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead is on the inside of us’ What a mind blowing revelation! Can you begin to see the magnitude of the potential that you have?
In Deuteronomy 8:18, the scriptures say, ‘It is God who gives us the ability to make wealth’ How does that sound like? It is challenging to me because it makes me see the responsibility I have.
By this I can deduce that God will not throw wealth on our laps, but rather He has an expectation of us:
Firstly, that we take the initiative to know what this ‘power’ is and how we need to take this to another level.
Secondly, God like every father, I suppose expects that we are responsible enough to explore the creative aspects of our being and just ‘do it’ anyway. (Bearing in mind that without faith it is impossible to please God)
Thirdly, because He has given us the ability (potential) to make wealth, we have to be accountable to Him. Remember the parable Jesus told about talents given to those men and what they did with these talents?
Make a choice today to ‘identify’, ‘do something about it’ in order to ‘maximize’ the potential that lies in you. It follows in every aspect of our lives, identify this ‘power’; work at it, and look to God to bring all that is needed to maximize it.
