I have often pondered on the famous saying that ‘knowledge is power’. There is great confidence at your disposal when you have deeper knowledge about a topic.
This knowledge may come from your field of study, life experiences or even experiences of other people. Whatever the source, its availability is a source of great strength.
In times of trouble, it is easy to wonder if God actually hears us. Many times with the benefit of hindsight, we are able to see that God does hear our prayers, and He carries us through the difficulties.
It is common knowledge that most people irrespective of their religious affiliations will agree that no matter where we are, God is as close as a prayer. Oftentimes when we find ourselves in very desperate situations, we are cornered to saying words of prayer to a loving God who listens and who answers prayers. Testimonies abound to support this. I am thrilled in my personal experience of Him that He is a God who hears and answers our desperate mutters of words (prayers) irrespective of whether we believe in Him or not.
In the Bible, the psalmist by the Spirit says, ‘Call upon Me on the day of trouble, and I will answer you’ How true that God upholds His words in our times of need!
While His answer may not be according to our exact expectations, it is most reassuring that He answers all our prayers. I am confident that He will not let us down in our hour of need. He will answer our prayers in His own way, sometimes the answer may be ‘be still and let it be’ at other times it may be ‘move on’ and at some other times, it may just be ‘retreat’. Whatever the case, He answers anyway.
It is comforting to know that the Lord of the universe is our shepherd. He is our support and strength and will help us make our way up again from whatever depths we have fallen. His rod and His staff provide comfort and His grace is more than enough, sufficient to meet every need (spiritual, physical, emotional or psychological).
Just knowing this fact about God gives inner strength that we cannot be moved beyond our ability and beyond God’s capability of restoration and redemption.
I sail with the tides of life with this belief that God is near and that He is more than enough for me. There is no situation that takes Him unaware and He is well capable of handling ANYTHING that comes my way!
If He created the whole world by the breath of His words, then He is well capable of handling any mountain of problems that come my way. More importantly He says in His words that ‘See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands and your walls are continually before Me’. Isaiah 49: 16
Knowing that I am engraved into God’s own palms is so comforting and reassuring that no matter what, because He feels every pain and He is touched by anything that affects me, He is in charge of all I am incapable of handling.
Who and what we know of God is the strength source and shield against the perils of life in this uncertain world that we live in.
