How many times do we have these inner feelings of pondering and stock taking as the year rounds up? For me, even when I deliberately choose not to, my mind just gravitates towards this state and I just cannot help but pause to wonder how the closing in year has been; ponder on expectations and dreams for the coming year. It is an appraisal time that helps me focus and develop a strategy for the future.
An appraisal exercise like this is helpful to bring to our minds where we are in terms of various issues of life. Family, relationships, finances, investments, career, spirituality, and the future as a whole.
It is a great exercise worth doing with a pen and notebook to hand. You may choose to discuss with some important others in your life or even just go solo within the confines of your bedroom. I always choose the latter. I get great satisfaction and lasting effects from doing it myself. The insights from the exercise bear deep roots in my unconscious mind such that my conscious mind then unknowing to me remotely takes the lead from my unconscious for the months to come.
It is like the kind of force within an engine driving a car. It just makes an apparently complex task effortless.
Hmmm well, I am at that appraisal state again. I am taking stock of all achievements of 2009, good and bad alike, appraising these to see how best I can improve on the not so good feedback and what learnings are from the good experiences so that I can improve even further.
Looking through my emails and text messages often helps. I shall stop here now as I continue with my exercises. Do give it a shot and let us know how you fare.
If you continue to do what you have always done then you will surely get the results you have; Dare to try something new even if this may bring just a twist to how you have done it before; a positive change may just be waiting for you.
Hear from you soon.
