The Attributes of God!

Over the next few months, my two girlfriends and I have decided to take on a challenge. This challenge entails a careful study of the word of God focusing in particular at the attributes of God. The aim of this challenge is to bring us into a position where we could generate heartfelt worship to God our creator, redeemer, healer and husband and sustainer of the Universe.

It is a fact that day in and out we all feel and acknowledge in many ways that God has a lot to do with our lives and more importantly our place of dwelling, the earth.

 Even at that, we are still caught up in the moans of everyday hassles; entertaining doubts as to God’s existence and whether He is truly in charge of the happenings affecting our lives.

We often take for granted the fact that were it not because God is holding all things in place in His son, (Col 1:17) the situation would have been far more chaotic than it is presently.

My friends and I regularly meet to pray together and seek His face over everyday issues in our individual as well as collective lives. It is ever so refreshing that we could come together in unity to lay our burdens before our maker, creator and deliverer. This challenge is peculiar because I believe that we are in a phase of personal development spiritually. This exercise surely will bring us closer and nearer to the very nature of God. Anyone having been in the presence of God never comes out the same. In getting to know God better we are sure to become better persons in every way.

 I started to think about how I shall tackle this task before me. I came up with a small plan like this:

Firstly I shall write down all the attributes of God I have personally encountered in my life and Secondly, I shall do a search of how and what others view of God is.

Thirdly, I shall take each of these attributes and do a study on it searching through scriptures for an in depth knowledge.

I shall keep you updated on my progress but if you do have any unique way in which God has revealed himself to you which you consider may help me with this task, please do no hesitate to write these in the comments column.

This exercise has the potential to make us shift focus from ourselves for once to God. It can only be a good thing! So if you want to, please do feel free to join in.
